Job Description
- Program PLCs, HMIs, and more for a variety of industrial automation manufacturing scenarios
- Troubleshoot process equipment and instrumentation including HMIs, PLCs, Drives, Servos, Safety Systems, flow meters and more. You will be part of a team of electrical automation engineers and technicians, and will thus have access to strong technical support when needed.
- Create functional descriptions, flow charts, and control narratives for automation projects
- Design electrical control panels based on project requirements using AutoCAD
- Integrate, program and start up AC/DC and Servo drives
- Quote projects based on customer’s specifications
- Design and program SCADA systems using Ignition, Wonderware and others for industrial facilities
- Design and integrate safety monitoring systems and safety circuitry solutions, including safety relays, light curtains, scanners, safety mats and more into existing equipment or machinery functioning
- Produce electrical drawings reflecting changes or additions to electrical systems in AutoCAD Electrical
- Program and commission robot systems
- Be willing to be on call on a rotating basis
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Electrical license 309A or 442A with a history of control systems experience in an industrial process environment
- Control Systems Technologist, Engineering education or equivalent electrical controls education, would be considered an asset
- Minimum 5-10 years’ field experience in an industrial environment
- Mechanically inclined, excelling at use of tools to accomplish hands-on field work, including machine wiring, mounting of components, panel changes/retrofits, running of cables, etc.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to speak to and address customer needs
- A proven record of controls experience and an aptitude for learning
- A strong programming knowledge base in Siemens and Allen Bradley (knowledge of other platforms will be considered a valuable asset)
- Excellent working knowledge of the Ontario and Canadian Electrical Code
- Good Driving Record
